Wondering What To Do in Pittsburgh this Week?

Welcome to the home of the #Slaygents! We live and breathe Pittsburgh - we absolutely adore this city and love showing other locals and visitors what makes PGH pop. PGH’s community is active, and in the summertime, there are plenty of street markets, sales, and outdoor music events in our local parks. All year round, Pittsburgh nightlife is active. No matter the season there is always something to do, art and culture to soak up, a new restaurant to try, or a local event to enjoy. We’re confident that there is truly something in this city for each and every one of its residents and visitors, no matter your taste.

With everything going on in this wonderful city, it’s hard to pin down exactly what to do in Pittsburgh this week. For visitors, it’s even harder to decide where to go in Pittsburgh and what to see in Pittsburgh! There are a lot of ways to find out about events - scrolling the event column on Facebook like we’re back in 2010, selecting “this week” in Pittsburgh on Eventbrite and hoping the best events will show up in the first two pages, or skimming the multiple PGH online papers for the good stuff. It’s a lot to sift through, and even if you spend a while checking every resource, you still might miss something great.

Don’t fret, that’s where the Slaygents come in. Our team is made up of locals and converts. With our combined knowledge complete with real estate expertise and fine-tuned research skills, we compile a weekly newsletter. It is sent out every Friday morning, so readers have time to prepare for the fab weekend events. Of course, the weekends are the busiest times for events, and with so much going on our newsletter makes it easy to figure out what to do.

So, how do we choose events?

First of all, we want you to have fun for free. The vast majority of the events we include in our newsletter are either free or if not, very cheap! Ranging from events at Pittsburgh bars, taco truck nights, concert events in Frick Park, or queer kayaking, anything is possible. We search high and low, scouring social media and city announcements, to keep your weekend affordable and entertaining.

Next, we want the events to be centrally located! Our events are always close to downtown Pittsburgh. You shouldn’t have to walk for miles, sit on the bus for hours, or get caught in traffic on a Friday night. We’re big believers in keeping the fun close by. Every event we choose to include is in, if not very near, downtown PGH.

And finally, we always choose lively events that look like something we, personally, would go to. That means they’re going to be popular, interesting, exciting, and always LGBTQ+ friendly. Our favorite events are the ones where everyone is invited. No mean girls here; yes, you can sit with us. Please!

We’ll let our work speak for itself. Take a look at a couple of past newsletters to get an idea of what we include…

April was full of parties, library lounges, drag brunches, and even a little volunteering!

During July we included beer festivals, summer markets, top-tier comedy, and a little mid-summer meditation.

Events change every season, and we never repeat recurring events in our newsletters - we don’t want things to get repetitive, because Pittsburgh is the opposite of boring! We live for this city, its vibrant, diverse neighborhoods, inclusivity, and open atmosphere.
